Nestled between 6 regions, Auvergne makes up part of France’s Massif Central. However, the volcanoes are nothing to take you away from your relaxation time; they are now dormant, with the last one erupting over 6,000 years ago. Specialities include Cantal and Bleu d’Auvergne cheeses, potée Auvergnate-a pork and cabbage stew, Puy lentils, Pounti- a type of meat loaf and Auvergne (cured) ham. The vineyards of Auvergne are amongst the oldest in France and wines to drink are from Saint-Pourçain sur Sioule and the Côtes d'Auvergne.
