This region was createdin the late 20^th Century as a zone of influence for Nantes, it’s capital city.This region combines the history and culture of parts of the regions of Brittany, Normandy,Poitou, the old provinces of Anjou and Maine and part of the former province of Touraine,giving it a vast array of things to see and do. The 5th department of the region, Maineet Loire (bordering Poitou-Charentes and the Loire Valley)has an abundance of Châteaux and beautiful countryside of hills and valleyswith sunflowers and vineyards.
